Inspection and Maintenance of Locking Gates

Download this step-by-step ‘walk-through’ to aid with the inspection and maintenance of DMM auto-lock carabiner gate mechanisms. Following on from a visual and tactile assessment, there are three gate action (function) tests described, to ensure that the gate closes fully and reliably. A non-silicone based lubricant such as Duck Oil is recommended (do NOT use graphite powder) to reduce friction at the hinge rivet, within the mechanism and contact areas. DMM – Dragon Cam

A couple of years ago we decided to expand our cam range by producing a single stem design with a dual axle. A simple enough proposal you might think, but not if you want to make a cam that would stand head and shoulders above the rest. The main advantage of the single stem design with two axles is that it allows a greater range for each camming unit. We have kept Ray Jardine’s original 13.75° constant camming angle, which gives the perfect balance between holding power and range. The benefits of this increased range are obvious, but we knew we could push things to another level by focusing o...

DMM – Rhino Screwgate

A highly evolved and resilient creature. After observing how sport climbers were modifying their belay biners with rubber bungs to prevent cross-loading with certain belay devices, we came up with a cleaner, simple, solution. The horn prevents assisted locking belay devices rotating off the top bar and on to the spine reducing the risk of cross loading, it also works well with selected DMM pulleys. The Rhino is not restricted to assisted locking belay devices: it works brilliantly with standard devices. The full cross section of the top bar means greater wear resistance, and smooth operatio...
